Dr. Vi-Khanh Truong began his academic journey with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Chemistry, culminating in a Ph.D. in Nanobiotechnology from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, in 2012. His doctoral achievements include international recognitions, such as a visiting scholar award at Hannover Laser Zentrum in Germany, and second prize for the best dissertation from the International Titanium Association for his pioneering work on titanium implant surfaces. Following his Ph.D., Dr. Truong engaged in significant industrial collaborations, including roles at BASF and BlueScope, where he designed sustainable agricultural products and developed antimicrobial coatings for various industries. He also held a visiting fellowship at CNRS in France, focusing on the interactions between soft matter and nanostructured surfaces.

Since 2019, he has established his independent research group dedicated to antimicrobial coatings at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. In 2022, he was appointed Senior Lecturer and Deputy Director of the Biomedical Nanoengineering Laboratory at Flinders University. He has contributed to redesigning the curriculum and integrating nanobiotechnology and AI-generative innovations into Master of Biotechnology teaching program. Since 2019, Dr. Truong has received several prestigious fellowships, including the Australian Research Council Future Fellowship, Fulbright Fellowship, and RMIT Vice Chancellor Fellowship. His research, funded by over 3 million AUD in grants, has established him as a leader in antimicrobial biomedical coating technology. Dr. Truong has a strong track record in translational research, as evidenced by his holding of 6 patents. And he has authored over 170 papers, garnering more than 11,000 citations and an H-index of 48, underscoring his significant impact on biomedical engineering and nanobiotechnology.
